  • Potent Offense Powers Women’s Basketball to First Win in Home Opener

    Playing in its first game of the season at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio, Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season with an offensive outburst, defeating Waynesburg University 96-79 on Tuesday night. The Spartans improve to 1-4 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 0-3. The 96 points are the most in a single game for the program since December 20, 2018, when the team scored 102 against Eastern University.

    Case Western Reserve University junior Trey Razanauskas, a member of the men’s cross country team, and sophomore Abbey Lawrence, a guard/forward on the women’s basketball team, have been named the Spartan Club Athletes of the Week for their performances this past week.

    Case Western Reserve University sophomore guard/ forward Abbey Lawrence scored a career-high 25 points, but it was not enough for the Spartans on Saturday afternoon, as the team suffered a 65-46 setback to Otterbein College at the Springhill Suites Tip-Off Tournament in Washington, Pennsylvania.

  • Women’s Basketball Looks to Rebound at Springhill Suites Tip-Off Tournament

    The Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team will look to rebound from back-to-back losses to start its 2019-20 campaign this weekend, when the team travels to Washington, Pennsylvania for the Springhill Suites Women’s Basketball Tip-Off Tournament.  The Spartans will face host Washington & Jefferson College at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15th, before taking on Otterbein College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16th.
  • Late Surge Pushes Kenyon Past CWRU, 47-45

    A double-double by junior forward Emma Cain and a team-leading 15-point effort by sophomore guard/ forward Abbey Lawrence helped the Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team build a 15-point lead midway through the third quarter, but a cold shooting fourth quarter and a late surge by their opponents saw the Spartans fall 47-45 to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio on Tuesday evening.

    The Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team will continue its season-opening four-game road trip on Tuesday, November 12th, when the Spartans travel to face Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Tip-off of Tuesday’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
