    Case Western Reserve University sophomore guard/ forward Abbey Lawrence was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week and was selected as the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for Women’s Basketball, after helping lead the Spartans to wins over Washington University (Mo.) and the 14th-ranked University of Chicago over the weekend.

    On Sunday afternoon, the Case Western Reserve University women?s basketball team upset the 14th-ranked University of Chicago 77-71 at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio to extend their winning streak to six games. The Spartans are now 8-6 overall and 3-0 in University Athletic Association play. The Maroons, who saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end, fell to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the UAA.
  • Gross’ Three-Point Play in Closing Seconds Gives CWRU 74-73 Win over WashU

    Down two points with 5.3 seconds remaining in the game, first-year guard McKenna Gross made a layup and a foul shot on a drive to the basket to give the Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team a 74-73 victory over Washington (Mo.) University at Horsburgh Gymnasium on Friday night.

Tip-off against Washington is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, while the Spartans are scheduled to face the Maroons at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19.

  • Spartan Women Open UAA Play with 27-Point Win Over Carnegie Mellon

    Four Spartans scored in double figures as the Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team opened University Athletic Association play with a 78-51 win over the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans on Saturday afternoon in Horsburgh Gymnasium. The Spartans improve to .500 on the season, 6-6, and are now 1-0 in UAA play. The Tartans fall to 7-5 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. For CWRU it was the team’s fourth consecutive win and third in a row over its rival from Pittsburgh.

    Despite trailing by 15 points with two minutes left in the third quarter, the Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team defeated Denison University 79-72 in triple overtime on Saturday afternoon at Horsburgh Gymnasium. The Spartans improve to 3-6 on the season. The Big Red suffered just their second loss of the season, falling to 7-2.

    The Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team will travel to Alliance, Ohio to play at the 2019 M-Club Tournament, hosted by the University of Mount Union, on Friday, November 22nd and Saturday, November 23rd.  The Spartans will begin play at the tournament against sixth-ranked Hope College at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and then face either Mount Union or Juniata College on Saturday in either the consolation game at 2:00 p.m. or the championship game at 4:00 p.m.
  • Potent Offense Powers Women’s Basketball to First Win in Home Opener

    Playing in its first game of the season at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio, Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season with an offensive outburst, defeating Waynesburg University 96-79 on Tuesday night. The Spartans improve to 1-4 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 0-3. The 96 points are the most in a single game for the program since December 20, 2018, when the team scored 102 against Eastern University.
