For the second time in her career, Case Western Reserve University graduate student forward Kara Hageman was selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, after scoring 22 points and collecting 16 rebounds during the Spartans' 69-52 win over Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, the final game of her collegiate career.
Hageman becomes the first Spartan to earn a spot on the website's national team of the week since she claimed the honor for the first time in her career on January 30th, 2017. She is the first repeat winner of the award in CWRU women's basketball history, and it is just the fourth time overall that a CWRU player has received the weekly honor.
Hageman's 22 points in Saturday's game matched a season-high, while the 16 rebounds were a career-best. She shot eight-of-11 overall in the game, including a perfect three-of-three from behind the three-point line, and added a three-for-four day from the free throw line. In addition, she recorded a season-high five assists and picked up three steals.
The double-double was her conference-best 11th of the season and the 21st of her career, and she finished the 2018-19 campaign ranked fifth in the league with 15.6 points per game and second with 9.9 rebounds per contest. Hageman was also named the UAA Athlete of the Week for women's basketball on Monday, the second time this season she has received the honor.
Case Western Reserve finished the season with a 15-10 overall record, including a 7-7 finish in University Athletic Association games, good for fourth in the conference.
