CWRU’s Hageman Named to All-Region Third Team

Case Western Reserve University junior forward and team co-captain Kara Hageman (Pennington, N.J. / Hopewell Valley Central) was named to the Great Lakes All-Region Third Team for her performance during the 2016-17 season.

This was the first career All-Region honor for Hageman, who is a three-time All-University Athletic Association honoree, including an all-conference first team selection this season.  It marked the sixth time in program history that a Spartan has been named to the All-Region Team, and the first since Evy Iacono following the 2012-13 season.  In addition, she is only the third non-senior in program history to claim an All-Region honor from, along with Erin Hollinger after her junior year in 2010-11, and Keesha Allen after her sophomore year in 2002-03.

Hageman became the first woman in program history to score 500 points in a season, finishing the year with 502.  She ranked third in the UAA in points per game (20.1) and second with 2.0 blocks per game, while also adding 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, and shooting 49.4% from the floor, including a 33.6% mark from behind the three-point line.  She led the team in scoring 12 times during the year, and paced the squad in rebounding on 11 occasions.

Hageman set a school single-game record with 41 points and 16 field goals against Washington University on January 29th, and was later named the Division III Player of the Week for the performance.  She earned UAA Athlete of the Week honors twice, and was selected to the Team of the Week once during the year.

After her junior season, Hageman ranks 11th in school history with 1,034 points, ninth in field goal percentage (.452), 19th in rebounds (460), 20th in assists (141) and fifth in blocked shots (94).

The Spartans finished the 2016-17 season with a 13-12 overall record, including a 5-9 mark in the UAA.
