The Case Western Reserve University softball team returns home this week, as they welcome Heidelberg University to Mather Park for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17th.

The Spartans will enter the week with an overall record of16-10, following a 1-3 record against 21st-ranked Brandeis University this past weekend. The team has hit .336 this season and averaged 5.7 runs per game this season, while the pitching staff has a team ERA of 2.72 with an opponent's batting average of .257.
Case Western Reserve is under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her ninth season with the team, and has a career record of 221-137. Henry is assisted by Andrea Nagy, Ashley Parello, Katelyn Gibson and Hannah Mehrle.
Heidelberg Student Princes
The Student Princes are currently 12-14 overall this season, and will face Baldwin Wallace University on Tuesday before traveling to Cleveland on Wednesday to take on the Spartans. Heidelberg has hit .305 this year and averaged 3.7 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 3.68 ERA with a .324 opponents' batting average.
The Student Princes are led by Head Coach Kelli Williams, who is in her third season with the program. She is assisted by Renee Lovett and Mari Deppe.
The two teams last met during the 2017 season, when CWRU and Heidelberg split a doubleheader at Mather Park. The Student Princes won the first game 6-5 in extra innings, but then the Spartans came back to secure a 9-0 win in six innings during the second contest.
The Spartans are currently 7-3 in games at Mather Park this season…Junior Nicole Carty is first on the squad with a .420 batting average (34-for-81) and currently leads the team with 10 multiple hit games this year…Sophomore Dusstyn Reynolds has a team-best eight multiple RBI games and ranks first on the team with 27 RBI's…In addition, Reynolds ranks tied for first with freshman Liv Thomas in home runs (5)…Thomas also currently has the longest hit streak of a Spartan so far this season with an 18-game hitting streak…The Spartans have hit .335 (83-for-248) with runners in scoring position this season, and .600 (36-for-60) with a runner on third and less than two outs.
