Softball Hits the Road to Play at Brandeis this Weekend

The Case Western Reserve University softball team will hit the road this weekend, when the team travels to Waltham, Massachusetts for a four-game series with the Brandeis University Judges.

The Spartans will begin the four-game series with a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12th. The series will continue on Saturday, April 13th with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. As always, the schedule is subject to change due to weather, and fans care encouraged to check back at athletics.case.edu for any schedule updates.

The UAA Champion is determined based on winning percentage among teams with at least 10 UAA games played.

CWRU Spartans
The Spartans will begin their first UAA road weekend with an overall record of 15-7 and 4-2 in the conference, after winning three of four games against Carnegie Mellon University this past weekend. The team has hit .354 this season and averaged 6.4 runs per game this season, while the pitching staff has a team ERA of 2.71 with an opponent's batting average of .259.

Case Western Reserve is under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her ninth season with the team, and has a career record of 220-134. Henry is assisted by Andrea Nagy. Ashley Parello, Katelyn Gibson and Hannah Mehrle.

Brandeis Judges
The Judges will be playing their first UAA home series of the season this weekend, as they currently have an overall record of 15-0-1 and 4-0 in the conference. Brandeis has hit .373 this year and averaged 8.1 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 2.09 ERA with a .228 opponents' batting average.

The Judges are led by Head Coach Danielle DelPonte, who is in her fourth season with the program. She is assisted by Amanda Genovese, Emily Kraytenberg and Kelley Fluet.

Series History
This will be the third year that CWRU and Brandeis will play on a campus site during the Coach Henry era, and the second that the two teams will play at Marcus Field in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Last year, the Spartans swept a four-game series against Brandeis at Mather Park in Cleveland, Ohio. Junior Ilissa Hamilton went 2-0 on the mound, allowing zero runs in 13.0 innings pitched, while striking out 12 batters. At the plate, Hamilton also hit .333 (3-for-9) with one home run and one run batted in.

Spartan Notes
The Spartans are currently 4-2 in UAA games this season…Junior Nicole Carty is first on the squad with a .429 batting average (30-for-70) and currently ranks tied for first on the team with senior Nicole Doyle in multiple hit games (8)…Sophomore Dusstyn Reynolds has a team-best eight multiple RBI games and ranks first on the team with 26 RBI's…In addition, Reynolds ranks tied for first with freshman Liv Thomas in home runs (5)….Sophomore Arisa Cleaveland currently has the longest hit streak of a Spartan so far this season with a 15-game hitting streak…The Spartans have hit .341 (74-for-217) with runners in scoring position this season, and .643 (36-for-56) with a runner on third and less than two outs.
