Case Western Reserve University sophomore Sidney Brannam was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week for Softball, after helping the Spartans to four wins last week.
Brannam went 2-1 on the mound, allowing one earned run in 13.2 innings pitched, while striking out 12 batters during the team's spring break trip in Arizona. In the Spartans' final game of the trip, Brannam went the distance for a six-hit shutout against the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. She pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing six hits and five walks, while striking out six batters.
For the season, Brannam has a 2-2 overall record, including one complete game. She has totaled a team-high 20.0 innings pitched, allowing six earned runs on 23 hits, while striking out 16. This was the third career UAA Athlete of the Week honor for Brannam.
The Spartans return to Cleveland this week and will prepare to play their first home games of the campaign, as they welcome Baldwin Wallace University to Mather Park for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, March 20th. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3:00 p.m.
