CWRU Softball to Open Home Campaign against Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday

The Case Western Reserve University softball team is scheduled to open their home campaign this week, as they welcome Baldwin Wallace University to Mather Park for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20th.

CWRU Spartans
The Spartans will enter the week with an overall record of 4-4, following a 4-2 record this past week during their spring break trip to Arizona. The team has hit .270 this season and averaged 4.3 runs per game this season, while the pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.24 with an opponent's batting average of .269.

Case Western Reserve is under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her ninth season with the team, and has a career record of 209-131. Henry is assisted by Andrea Nagy, Ashley Parello, Katelyn Gibson and Hannah Mehrle.

Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets
The Yellow Jackets are currently 11-1 overall this season, after sweeping a doubleheader against Oberlin College in Berea, Ohio on Friday. BW has hit .432 this year and averaged 9.8 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 1.92 ERA with a .205 opponent's batting average.

The Yellow Jackets are led by Head Coach Tom Spencer, who is in his 15th season with the program. He is assisted by Joe Yocabet, Joe Tagliarini, Cassie Stanton and Lauren Piechowiak.

Last year, the Spartans and Yellow Jackets played doubleheader in Berea, Ohio, with CWRU winning the first game 11-7. Game two of the doubleheader was suspended due to insufficient daylight. Junior Nicole Carty hit a two-run home run during the win, while senior Nicole Doyle, junior Melissa Cuellar and sophomore Dusstyn Reynolds each recorded a double throughout the game.

Spartan Notes
Senior Nicole Doyle is first on the squad with a .417 batting average (10-for-24), leads the team with 10 hits and is tied for the team lead with four doubles…Doyle leads the team with three multiple hit games this year…Freshman Liv Thomas leads the team with a two home runs and nine RBI's, while also having a team-best four multiple RBI games this season…The Spartans have hit .254 (17-for-67) with runners in scoring position this season, and .526 (10-for-19) with a runner on third and less than two outs.
