With just six games remaining on its regular-season schedule, the Case Western Reserve University softball team will play at home for the final scheduled time this season, when the squad welcomes John Carroll University to Mather Park for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.

Case Western Reserve will enter Wednesday's games with a 25-8 overall record, after the team swept Mount Union on Monday. Included in the Spartans' overall mark is a 7-1 record in home games. The team is batting .337 this season and averaging 6.4 runs per game, while the pitching staff is tallying a 2.48 earned run average and a .254 opponents' batting average.
The Spartans are under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her eighth season with the team, and has a career record of 192-123. Henry is assisted by Shannel Blackshear, Ashley Parello, Hannah Mehrle, Andrea Nagy, Annie Wennerberg and Katelyn Gibson.
John Carroll Blue Streaks
The Blue Streaks will enter Wednesday's doubleheader with some momentum, after sweeping Hiram College on Monday. John Carroll stands at 14-15 overall on the year, including a 6-8 mark in away contests. The team is batting .301 this season and averaging 4.4 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 3.77 earned run average and a .295 opponents' batting average.
John Carroll is under the leadership of Head Coach Nicole Loudin, who is in her fifth season with the program. She is assisted by Bruce Anderson.
Last year, the Spartans and Blue Streaks played a doubleheader in University Heights, with CWRU winning the first game 8-0 in five innings, and also winning the second game 11-1 in five innings. Junior Nicole Doyle paced the team at the plate, going four-for-five over the two games with five runs batted in, three runs scored and one home run. Senior Maren Waldner added three RBI's over the two games.
The Spartans have gone 65-23 in home games at Mather Park over the last six seasons, good for a .739 winning percentage...CWRU is 7-1 at home this season…Senior Maren Waldner is first on the squad with a .508 batting average (61-for-120) and leads the team with 61 hits and 33 runs scored…Waldner also has a team-best 20 multiple-hit games this season, and is tied with senior Grace Tritchler for a team-best seven multiple-RBI games…Senior Katie Wede leads the team with 15 stolen bases and is now currently tied with former Spartan Molly O'Brien for the program record for career stolen bases with 65…Sophomore Ilissa Hamilton currently leads the UAA with 115 strikeouts on the season, and also ranks tied for 36th in all of Division III…The Spartans have hit .350 (125-for-357) with runners in scoring position this season, and .576 (38-for-66) with a runner on third and less than two outs.
