Case Western Reserve University sophomore pitcher Ilissa Hamilton was named the University Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, after helping the Spartans sweep Brandeis University in a four-game series at Mather Park this weekend.
Hamilton went 2-0 on the mound, allowing zero runs in 13.0 innings pitched, while striking out 12 batters. At the plate, Hamilton also hit .333 (3-for-9) with one home run and one run batted in. During the Spartans' 5-0 win against Brandeis on Saturday, she pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and struck out eight batters. She also hit her first home run as a member of the Spartan softball team.
For the season, Hamilton has a 7-3 overall record, including seven complete games. She has totaled 71 innings pitched, allowing 37 earned runs on 68 hits. She currently leads the team with 68 strikeouts and ranks second in the University Athletic Association.
This was Hamilton's second career UAA Pitcher of the Week honor.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action next weekend when the team travels to New York, New York to take on New York University for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader on Friday is slated to start at 4:00 p.m.
