The Case Western Reserve University softball team is scheduled to open their home campaign this weekend, as they welcome the Brandeis University Judges to Mather Park for a four-game series.
The Spartans will begin the four-game series with a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6th. The series will continue on Saturday, April 7th with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. As always, the schedule is subject to change due to weather, and fans are encouraged to check back at athletics.case.edu for any schedule updates.

The Spartans will begin their first UAA home weekend with an overall record of 13-6, following a 1-4 record during the past week of competition. The team has hit .328 this season and averaged 6.5 runs per game this season, while the pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.27 with an opponent's batting average of .278.
Case Western Reserve is under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her eighth season with the team, and has a career record of 180-121. Henry is assisted by Shannel Blackshear, Ashley Parello, Hannah Mehrle, Andrea Nagy, Annie Wennerberg and Katelyn Gibson.
The Judges have opened the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 3-5. They last played on Wednesday, March 28th when they suffered a sweep against Simmons College. Brandeis has hit .352 this year and averaged 6.0 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 2.94 ERA with a .284 opponents' batting average.
The Judges are led by Head Coach Danielle DelPonte, who is in her third season with the program. She is assisted by Kelley Fluet and Emily Kraytenberg.
This will be the second year that CWRU and Brandeis will play on a campus site during the Coach Henry era, and the first that the two teams will play at Mather Park in Cleveland, Ohio.
Last year, the Spartans were only able to play one game at Brandeis due to inclement weather. In the one game that was played, CWRU fell 4-2 to the Judges in a weather-shortened game. Senior Maren Waldner led the Spartans at the plate with a two-for-three performance, including a RBI and a stolen base.
The Spartans have gone 58-22 in home games at Mather Park over the last six seasons, good a .725 winning percentage…CWRU is currently 0-4 in the UAA this season, after dropping four games to Emory University in Atlanta last weekend…Senior Maren Waldner is first on the squad with a .536 batting average (37-for-69) and leads the team with 37 hits, while also ranking tied for second with 16 runs batted in…Waldner leads the team with 13 multiple hit games this year…Senior Grace Tritchler has a team-best six multiple RBI games, and now is only 21 RBI's shy of the program record for runs batted in for a career…The Spartans have hit .376 (71-for-189) with runners in scoring position this season, and .719 (23-for-32) with a runner on third and less than two outs.
