With just four games remaining on its regular-season schedule, the Case Western Reserve University softball team will hit the road for the final scheduled time this season, when the squad travels to University Heights, Ohio for a doubleheader against the John Carroll University Blue Streaks starting at 3:30 p.m.

Case Western Reserve will enter Wednesday's games with a 17-16 overall record, after the team was swept by the University of Chicago this past weekend. Included in the Spartans' overall mark is a 2-3 record in road games. The team is batting .280 this season and averaging 4.3 runs per game, while the pitching staff is tallying a 3.44 earned run average and a .288 opponents' batting average.
The Spartans are under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her seventh season with the team, and has a career record of 164-114. Henry is assisted by Shannel Blackshear and Ashley Parello.
John Carroll Blue Streaks
After opening their season with 17 wins in their first 30 games, the Blue Streaks will enter Wednesday's doubleheader on a four-game losing streak, including a pair of losses to Ohio Wesleyan University on Monday. John Carroll stands at 17-17 overall on the year, including a 7-5 mark in home contests. The team is batting .279 this season and averaging 4.2 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 2.28 earned run average and a .262 opponents' batting average.
John Carroll is under the leadership of Head Coach Nicole Loudin, who is in her fourth season with the program. She is assisted by Bruce Anderson.
Last year, the Spartans and Blue Streaks played a doubleheader in Cleveland, with CWRU winning the first game 4-3 in nine innings, but falling in the second 4-3. Junior Maren Waldner and sophomore Nicole Doyle each tallied four hits during the two games for the Spartans.
The Spartans are currently 2-3 on the road this season, after splitting a four-game series against Washington (Mo.) in their last road contest…This will be the second-last doubleheader for the Spartans during the regular season, as they will wrap up the season on Sunday against DePauw…Sophomore Nicole Doyle is first on the team with a .375 batting average (39-for-14) and leads the Spartans with 39 hits and 11 doubles…Junior Maren Waldner leads the team with 12 multiple hit games this year…Junior Grace Tritchler has a team-best eight multiple RBI games and is first on the squad with six home runs and 29 runs batted in…Senior pitcher Annie Wennerberg is one win shy of breaking the programs record for career wins…The Spartans have hit .282 (90-for-319) with runners in scoring position this season, and .377 (43-114) against left-handed pitchers.
