Softball Returns Home to Face Mount Union on Tuesday

The Case Western Reserve University softball team returns home this week to host the University of Mount Union for a doubleheader at Mather Park on Tuesday, April 18th, starting at 3:30 p.m.

CWRU Spartans
The Spartans will enter the week with an overall record of 16-11, following a 2-2 record this past weekend against Washington (Mo.) University. The team has hit .291 this season and averaged 4.6 runs per game this season, while the pitching staff has a team ERA of 3.32 with an opponent's batting average of .276.

Case Western Reserve is under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is in her seventh season with the team, and has a career record of 163-109. Henry is assisted by Shannel Blackshear and Ashley Parello.

Mount Union Purple Raiders
The Purple Raiders are currently 14-16 overall for the season, after picking up a sweep over Capital University on Friday. Mount Union has hit .339 this year and averaged 5.4 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 3.26 ERA with a .284 opponents' batting average.

The Purple Raiders are led by Head Coach Meghan Kishman, who is in her second season with the program. She is assisted by Caitlyn Ferrell and Desi Hengoed.

Last year, the Spartans and Purple Raiders played a doubleheader at Mount Union, with CWRU falling in the first game 9-7, but coming back to win the second by a score of 10-6. Junior Grace Tritchler led the Spartans during the day, hitting her team-leading fifth-home run of the season during the second game, and finishing the two games a combined four-for-seven with two doubles, two walks and four runs batted in.
