Case Western Reserve University junior first baseman Grace Tritchler was named the University Athletic Association Hitter of the Week, after helping to lead the Spartans to five wins in six games last week.
Tritchler batted a team-best .500 (9-for-18) and led the team with three home runs and 11 runs batted in. During the team's sweep over Thiel College on Tuesday, Tritchler led the Spartans at the plate with a three-for-six performance, including two home runs and six runs batted.
In the second game of their doubleheader against New York University on Saturday, a 4-3 Spartans' victory, Tritchler hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season. She rounded out the week with a 4-for-6 performance to help the Spartans sweep NYU on Sunday, hitting a double and driving in four runs.
For the season, Tritchler ranks first on the team in home runs (5), first on the team in RBI's (26) and third on the team in batting average (.366). CWRU is 14-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action next weekend when the team travels to St. Louis, Missouri to take on Washington (Mo.) University for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader on Friday is slated to start at 4:00 p.m. ET.
