The Case Western Reserve University softball team will begin conference play at home this weekend, when the team welcomes 23rd-ranked Emory University to Mather Park for a four-game series.
A change to the schedule was made, with the doubleheader on Friday, March 24th now starting at 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, March 25th, the teams will wrap-up the series with a doubleheader slated to begin at 12:00 p.m.

The Spartans will begin the weekend with an overall record of 7-5, following a sweep of a doubleheader over Kenyon College on Tuesday. The team has hit .321 this season and averaged 5.3 runs per game this season, while the pitching staff has a team ERA of 2.39 with an opponent's batting average of .250.
Case Western Reserve is under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is now in her seventh season with the team, and has a career record of 154-103. Henry is assisted by Shannel Blackshear and Ashley Parello.
The Eagles will enter the weekend ranked 23rd in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll, after improving to 15-7 with a doubleheader sweep of Maryville (Tenn.) College on Tuesday. Emory has hit .328 this year and averaged 5.6 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 2.57 ERA with a .243 opponents' batting average.
Emory is led by Head Coach Penny Siqueiros, who is in her 19th season with the Eagles. She is assisted by Perelini Koria-Bush and Talya DiGirolamo.
While the teams have previously met annually at the UAA Tournament in Altamonte, Florida, this will be the first year that CWRU and Emory will play on a campus site during the Coach Henry era.
Last year, the Spartans dropped their two games against Emory during the UAA Championships, falling 7-5 in extra innings in the first game, and then losing 7-2 in the second game.
The Spartans have gone 49-13 in home games at Mather Park over the last five seasons, good for a .790 winning percentage…Friday's game will be the first contest of the new UAA softball schedule format, with teams playing four-game series each weekend on campus sites…The Spartans are currently 2-0 at home this season, after sweeping Kenyon College on Tuesday…Sophomore shortstop Nicole Doyle leads the team with a .462 batting average (18-for-39)…Junior infielder Maren Waldner leads the team with seven multiple hit games this year…Freshman Nicole Carty has a team-best three multiple RBI games…Junior Katie Wede has hit safely in her last seven games, which ties her for the longest hitting streak so far this season…The Spartans have hit .336 (45-for-134) with runners in scoring position this season, and .418 (28-for-67) against left-handed pitchers.
