Softball to Begin Final Stretch of Season at Kenyon

With just four games remaining on its regular-season schedule, the Case Western Reserve University softball team will hit the road for the final scheduled time this season, when the squad travels to Gambier , Ohio for a doubleheader against the Kenyon College Ladies starting at 3:30 p.m.

CWRU Spartans
Case Western Reserve will enter Wednesday's games with a 17-19 overall record, after the team split each of its three doubleheaders last week.  Included in the Spartans' overall mark is a 7-7 record in road games.  The team is batting .310 this season and averaging 4.9 runs per game, with the pitching staff tallying a 3.78 earned run average and a .293 opponents' batting average.

The Spartans are under the leadership of Head Coach Josie Henry, who is now in her sixth season with the team, and has a career record of 143-98, good for a .593 winning percentage.  Henry is assisted by Ashley Parello, Molly O'Brien and Natalie DeMatteis.

Kenyon Ladies
After opening their season with 13 wins in their first 22 games, the will enter Wednesday's doubleheader on an eight-game losing streak, including a pair of losses to Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday.  Kenyon stands at 13-16-1 overall on the year, including a 4-5-1 mark in home contests.  The team is batting .343 this season and averaging 6.9 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 6.09 earned run average and a .348 opponents' batting average.

Kenyon is under the leadership of Head Coach Erin O'Neill, who coached at Case Western Reserve prior to arriving at Kenyon, going 24-57 with the Spartans during the 2009 and 2010 season.  During her six seasons with the Ladies since, O'Neill has gone 109-109-1, for an overall career record of 133-166-1.  She is assisted by Jennifer Dowsey.

Matchup History
The teams last played during the 2012 season, with the Spartans sweeping a doubleheader at Kenyon, winning the first game 8-0 and the second 6-1.  Case Western Reserve has won the last four meetings with the Ladies.
