Wennerberg Named to UAA All-Tournament Team

Case Western Reserve University junior Annie Wennerberg was named to the University Athletic Association All-Tournament Team, following her performance during last week's conference tournament.

Wennerberg led all Case Western Reserve players with a .313 batting average (10-for-32), two home runs and seven runs batted in.  She also started eight games on the mound and pitched in nine total, striking out 23 batters in 36.1 innings of work.

Wennerberg turned in a three-for-four performance with a home run and two RBIs against Brandeis on March 9th, and added a one-for-three game with a home run and two RBIs against Emory.  The home run against Brandeis was the 28th of her career, tying the program record.  She picked up the win against Rochester on March 12th, throwing five scoreless innings and allowing just three hits in a 4-0 Spartan win.

For the season, Wennerberg is hitting .286 with three home runs and 12 runs batted in, while going 4-7 on the mound with a 3.98 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 81.0 innings.

This was the first career UAA All-Tournament honor for Wennerberg, who, as a sophomore in 2015, was named the UAA Most Valuable Player and selected to the NFCA All-America First Team.

The Spartans, who finished the UAA Championships with a 2-8 record and are 7-13 overall, will be back in action on Saturday, playing their home-opening games against Thiel College.
