PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Three members of the Case Western Reserve University softball team have been named to the 2015 University Athletic Association All-Tournament Softball Team selected by the coaches and announced by the league's office.
Senior second baseman Molly O'Brien (Northbrook, Ill./Loyola) finished 11-for-28 (.393) with 11 runs scored, earning the number one spot on the CWRU all-time list for runs scored (134), breaking the previous record held by Makenzie Lein (2011-14). She is currrently tied for number one on the career hits (176) record list. During the UAA Championship, O'Brien had four doubles and six RBIs.
Senior designated player Gena Roberts (Miami, Fla./Palmer-Trinity) recorded 11 hits, five runs, and seven RBIs during the UAA Championship Tournament. While starting in all 10 games of the week, Roberts hit four doubles for the Spartans.
A rookie centerfielder, Katie Wede (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) started all 10 games of the tournament, recording 12 hits, eight runs and five RBIs with one one home run, one triple and a double.
The Spartans finished fourth overall at the UAA Championship Tournament with an even 5-5 record.
The Spartans next game is scheduled on Wednesday, March 25 with a doubleheader against University of Mount Union beginning at 3:00 p.m.
