Geneva widened the gap back to two with a run in the top of the fifth, but the Spartans would secure the 9-7 victory with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, keyed by run-scoring doubles by junior shortstop Erin Dreger (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance) and Wede. Senior designated player Gena Roberts (Miami, Fla./Palmer-Trinity) broke a 7-7 tie with a two-run double with two outs.

Dreger hit a grand slam, her first home run of the season, to extend the Spartan lead to 7-0.
The Spartans scored three more runs in the second inning off of two errors from the Golden Tornadoes, but Geneva plated two runs to make it a 10-2 game heading into the fourth inning.
The Spartans scored a season-high nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior outfielder Kristen Klemmer (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) stole home before freshman third baseman Christine Scherer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny Senior) and O'Brien each singled in runs. Wede got hit by a pitch and junior Abbey Filliez (Canton, Ohio/Perry) walked, both of which brought another run across the plate. Roberts hit a grand slam to make the score 19-2.
