PITTSFORD, N.Y. – For the first time in her young career, Case Western Reserve University freshman third baseman Rachel Komar (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga) has been named the University Athletic Association Co-Hitter of the Week.
In four games last week, Komar batted a whopping .600 (9-of-15) with a triple, a homerun, four runs batted-in and a stolen base. Over the last 10 games, the first-year Spartan is batting .513 (20-for-39) with 12 runs scored and six RBI.
For the season, Komar is batting a team-best .410 with a pair of homers, six doubles, two triples, 11 RBI, 23 runs scored and is a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
Playing their best ball of the season, Komar and the Spartans (18-13) have won nine of their last 10 contests and will continue a season-long eight-game home stand this Friday, April 19 versus Hiram College at 3:30 p.m.
