    STARKSVILLE, Miss. – Case Western Reserve University junior designated player/first baseman Lauren Wolz (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American team, announced by the NFCA on Friday, May 20. Wolz is the first player in program history to earn All-America acclaim.

The Spartans finished the year with a 19-25 overall record, a 10-win improvement from last season.

Va. – The Case Western Reserve University softball team inched closer to the .500 mark for the season with a doubleheader sweep of Bethany College on Sunday, April 17 at the BC Softball Diamond. The Spartans won the opener, 5-4 in eight innings, then earned a 5-0 shutout in game two to improve to 18-22 overall.

The Spartans have now won 10-of-12 to move their season record to 16-22.

The Spartans fell to 11th-ranked Moravian College (PA), 9-1 in five innings, and Lebanon Valley College (PA), 11-1 in five innings. The team will now head to the University Athletic Association Championship in Altamonte Springs on March 10-14.

The win gave first-year head coach Josie Henry her first career victory after the Spartans opened with a 9-1 loss to Simmons College (MA) in game one.
