CWRU Men’s Cross Country Places 24th at NCAA DIII Championships

The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team placed 24th at the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday morning.

The Spartans finished the race with an aggregate team score of 593, notching a top-25 finish for the second-straight season and the 10th time in program history.  Pomona-Pitzer won the National Championship with a score of 164, followed by North Central (182) and Williams (183).

For the first time this season, junior Yoshmar Pinal-Alfaro was the Spartans' top finisher, crossing the line 109th out of 280 runners in the 8K race with a time of 25:31.2.  Junior Trey Razanauskas followed in 118th place with a time of 25:34.8, with first-year Robert St. Clair placing 161st with a time of 25:50.5.  Rounding out the top five scorers for the Spartans were senior David Hall, who was 176th with a time of 25:55.5, and first-year Jack Begley, who was 196th with a time of 26:04.2. 

Adding a 257th-place finish with a time of 26:40.8 was sophomore Logan Singer, while sophomore Alex Loeper placed 267th overall with a time of 27:06.4.

The top overall finisher at the meet was Stevenson's Patrick Watson, who completed the race in a time of 24:13.9.

Saturday's meet concluded the 2019 season for the Spartans.
