Case Western Reserve University junior David Hall (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls) was named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/ Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Hall completed a standout season for the CWRU cross country team in 2018, earning all-region honors for the first time in his career with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships. He went on to help lead the squad to a 21st-place finish at the NCAA Championships, as Hall was the second Spartan to cross the finish line at the meet, placing 87th overall. He was also the team's top finish at the All-Ohio Championships, finishing 30th overall and sixth among Division III runners with a season-best 8K time of 25:06.2.
Academically, Hall has a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average as a mathematics major at Case Western Reserve University. He warned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors this year and is a six-time UAA All-Academic Honoree between cross country and track. Hall was named to the Van Horn Society at CWRU in December, recognizing the program's top-achieving scholar athletes.
Academic All-District candidates are nominated by their institution's Sports Information Director, and then voted on by other Sports Information Directors in the district. Case Western Reserve is a part of District 7, which includes all Division III schools in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
By virtue of being named to the Academic All-District Team, Hall will be placed on the ballot for Google Cloud Academic All-America honors. The Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Tuesday, June 25th at noon.
