The Spartans will enter the Great Lakes Region Championships as one of just three programs with nationally-ranked teams in both the men's and the women's field, along with Calvin and Otterbein.  The CWRU men are currently ranked 32nd overall and fourth in the Great Lakes Region, while the women are also ranked 32nd nationally and fifth in the region.

Scheduled to compete for the CWRU men are seniors Ben Resnick and Zach Roshon, juniors David Hall, Andrew Green, Tim Andrews, and Michael Klein, sophomore Trey Razanauskas and freshman Spencer Weigand.  Racing for the Spartan women on Saturday will be seniors Jennifer Hoffmann, Marissa Miyagi, Isa Torres-Padin, Ellen Sears and Sophie Trikeriotis, juniors Madeline Lindemann and Vanessa Pasadyn, and sophomore Kiera Olson.

Roshon is the top-returning finisher for the CWRU men from last year's meet after placing 42nd overall and helping lead the team to a seventh-place finish, while Lindemann narrowly missed All-Region honors with a 36th-place finish last year, and helped the team finish eighth overall.

In addition to Case Western Reserve and host Franklin, schools participating in the meet include Calvin, DePauw, Mount Union, Ohio Northern, Albion, Rose Hulman, Hanover, Earlham, Bluffton, Mount St. Joseph, Transylvania, Wilmington, Spalding, John Carroll, Allegheny, Trine, Otterbein, Wabash, Baldwin Wallace, Ohio Wesleyan, Hope, Wooster, Anderson, Heidelberg, Denison, Alma, Kenyon, Oberlin, Wittenberg, Olivet, Kalamazoo, Capital, Marietta, Defiance, Saint Mary's Muskingum, and Adrian.  Nationally-ranked teams on the men's side set to participate include #3 Calvin, #15 Otterbein, #27 DePauw and #35 John Carroll, while on the women's side, #14 Hope, #23 Calvin, #27 Otterbein and #29 Oberlin are each nationally ranked.

The top two men's and women's team will each earn automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, November 17th in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  An additional 16 teams from across the eight Division III regions will be selected as 'at-large' teams to the field for the NCAA Championship, with the NCAA regional finish serving as the primary criteria.  The NCAA Championship field will be filled out with 56 individuals, with the top-seven finishers in each region not part of a qualifying team also earning selection.  The championship fields will be posted to ncaa.com no later than 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11th.

In addition, the top-35 finishers in both the men's and the women's race will earn all-region selection.
