CWRU Cross Country 2015 Season Recap

The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's cross country teams concluded the 2015 season with plenty of noteworthy performances.

With 25 women and 26 men, the Spartan teams concluded their seasons at the 2015 NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The women finished fourth at the regional, while the men finished ninth.

With two top 10 individual finishes, the Spartans sent two runners to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Senior Kelsey Aamoth earned her second trip to the NCAA Championships after finishing second individually at the Great Lakes Regional. Aamoth placed 55th of 280 runners at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships where she completed the 6k national course in 22:00.5.

During his first NCAA Championship experience, sophomore Sam Merriman completed the 8k national course in 25:53.3 to finish 167th of 278 runners.

Throughout the season, Aamoth earned All-University Athletic Association honors twice, while Merriman garnered the honors once.

At the University Athletic Association Championships, the Spartans earned a pair of sixth place finishes. Scoring for the women were Aamoth, fellow seniors Evy HailDana JeterLydia Greene,Juliana Ross, graduate student Kristen Ruckstuhl and freshman Isa Torres-Padin. The seven scorers on the men's side included Merriman, seniors Chippy KennedyTimothy TravitzBen Davis, and Gilad Doron as well as junior Galen Caldwell and sophomore Zach Roshon.

During the season, the men's and women's cross country teams hosted the 10th annual Alumni Run at the Squire Valleevue Farms. The Spartans wore Janji running gear after the race, which is an organization the cross country programs have been supporting for several years. Janji provides clean drinking water for third world countries with every item purchased. With the team's contributions, CWRU provided provided 79 years of clean water.
