The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team finished 9th overall, with all seven runners finishing in the top 100, at the 2015 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship.
Pacing CWRU, sophomore Sam Merriman crossed the finish line with a time of 25:38.0 to finish ninth overall in the field of 242 competitors. Senior Chippy Kennedy was next to complete the race for CWRU. Kennedy finished with a time of 26:15.4 for 40th place overall. Next for the Spartans, sophomore Zach Roshon and senior Ben Davis finished 55th and 57th overall with times of 26:31.9 and 26:33.8, respectively. Stopping the clock for a time of 26:55.6, senior Timothy Travitz finished 81st overall followed by junior Galen Caldwell at 83rd with a final time of 26:58.5. The final scorer for the Spartans, senior Tony Spalding, finished 89th with a time of 27:04.3.
Coming in first place was Wabash College, while senior Geno Arthur from Oberlin College earned the Great Lakes Region individual title with a time of 25:13.7.
From each race, the top two finishing teams receive an automatic trip to the NCAA Division III Championships at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh on Saturday, November 21, with the remaining teams funneled into an at-large pool for additional selections to be announced on Sunday. In addition, the top seven individual runners who are not part of teams that ultimately qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships will also compete in Wisconsin.
