CWRU Men Finish Sixth at UAA XC Championships

The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team placed sixth out of eight teams at the 2015 University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, hosted by Brandeis University at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Spartans top-five finishers combined for 151 points, en route to the sixth-place finish.  Carnegie Mellon won the meet with 53 points, followed by Washington University (Mo.) in second with 68 and the University of Chicago in third with 78.

Sophomore Sam Merriman paced the squad on the 8K course with a 21st-place finish in a time of 25:44.  He was followed by senior Chippy Kennedy, who claimed 23rd-place with a season-best time of 25:48.  Completing the team's scoring finishers at the meet were junior Galen Caldwell in 28th-place (25:53), sophomore Zach Roshon in 34th-place (26:04) and senior Timothy Travitz in 48th-place (26:24).

Rounding out the team's top-seven were senior Ben Davis (51st, 26:29) and senior Gilad Doron (52nd, 26:30).

Washington University's Josh Clark won the meet with a time of 24:56.

The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday, November 14th at the NCAA Regionals, hosted by Rose Hulman in Terre Haute, Indiana.
