The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team finished eighth overall and women's cross country team grabbed a second-place finish at the 2015 Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday morning.
On the men's side, sophomore Sam Merriman led CWRU with a career-best 8K time of 24:57.4 for a 27th place finish in the field of 274 runners. Senior Chippy Kennedy also recorded a career-best time with a mark of 24:59.3 for 31st place overall. For 32nd overall, junior Galen Caldwell finished with his new career-best time of 25:01.3. Sophomore Zach Roshon finished 53rd overall with his new best time of 25:20.6. Seniors Ben Davis and Tony Spalding crossed the finish line with times of 25:22.4 and 25:31.5 for 57th and 76th, respectively. Closing out the scorers for the Spartans eighth place team, junior Gilad Doron finished with a career-best time of 25:51.1.
Senior Kelsey Aamoth led the Spartan team to a second place finish with a career-best 6K time of 21:27.1 for a fifth place finish of 244 runners. Senior Evy Hail and sophomore Danielle Kulpins added career-best marks. Hail crossed the finish line with a time of 22:03.5 and Kulpins recorded a time of 22:09.1 to finish 19th and 24th overall, respectively. Senior Kristen Ruckstuhl finished 45th overall with a time of 22:34.0 and senior Dana Jeter recorded a new career-best time, crossing the line at 22:35.1 for 46th place. The final finishers for the Spartans included seniors Lydia Greene and Veronica Cole. Greene crossed the line with a time of 22:38.6 for 51st and Cole was just behind her with a time of 22:44.3 for 55th.
The CWRU men's and women's cross country teams will take two-weeks off of competition before heading to Boston for the 2015 University Athletic Association Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 31 and to be hosted by Brandeis University.
