
PITTSBURGH – The No. 35 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team finished seventh at the 2013 University Athletic Association Championship on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon at Schenley Park.
No. 2 Washington University-St. Louis ran away with the team title, claiming four of the top six spots for just 26 points. No. 7 New York University was runner-up at 49 points, and No. 14 University of Chicago was third at 81. The Spartans finished with 173 points.
Senior co-captain David Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Lakeside) was the first Spartan to the finish line in 26th place and a time of 26:19.6. Sophomore Timothy Travitz (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) and senior co-captain Wyatt Hoch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) ran in a tight pair to finish 31st (26:38.1) and 32nd (26:42.2), respectively. Rounding out the team scoring was the sophomore duo of Ben Davis (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) and Galen Caldwell (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) in 38th and 46th with respective times of 26:48.9 and 27:03.4.
The Spartans are now off for a week before continuing championship season at the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship on November 16 at 11:00 a.m. in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
