Spartan Men End Season with Seventh-Place Finish at NCAA Great Lakes Regional

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University men's cross country team ended the 2011 season with a seventh-place performance at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship meet hosted by Oberlin College on Saturday afternoon at Woodchip Trail.

Calvin College (Mich.) and Wabash College (Ind.) finished first and second, respectively, earning the automatic bids. The Knights totaled 38 points and the Little Giants finished with 100. Manchester College (Ind.) was third at 197, Ohio Wesleyan University was fourth at 201 and Albion College (Mich.) was fifth at 224.

Senior Ethan Teare (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) was Case's top finisher with an all-region 16th-place time of 25:31.83 in the 243-runner field. Classmate Christopher Wade (Berea, Ohio/Berea) was 40th overall in 26:11.35.

Junior Chris Kelly (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) was third for the Spartans in 44th place with a time of 26:16.21. Sophomore David Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Lakeside) in 58th and senior Peter Walls (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) in 81st rounded out the scoring with times of 26:32.53 and 26:53.58, respectively.
