Case Western Reserve University senior Dominic Oddo was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's field, following his performance at the 2020 Polar Bear Last Chance Meet, hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio this past weekend.
Oddo set a new school record in the men's heptathlon with a score of 4,768 points. His 4,768 points breaks his previous school record of 4,709 points set at the 2019 Polar Bear Last Chance Meet. Oddo finished second out of seven competitors in the men's heptathlon. On the first day, Oddo earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.85 meters (778 points), placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.82 meters (644 points), finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.38 seconds (752 points) and placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.45 meters (513 points). He totaled 2,687 points after the first day of competition. On Saturday, he finished first in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:50.56 (760 points), placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.94 (759 points) and finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.80 meters (562 points).
This was Oddo's eighth UAA Athlete of the Week honor of his career.
Oddo will now prepare for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships that will be held on March 13th-14th in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. All events will be held at the JDL Fast Track.
