In the final weekend of competition before the 2020 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams will send senior Dominic Oddo, sophomore Logan Singer and first-year Mia Vargo to compete on Friday March 6th and Saturday, March 7th at the 2020 Polar Bear Final Qualifier hosted by Ohio Northern University.
Oddo will be competing in the men's heptathlon. He currently holds the school record in the event after totaling 4,709 points during the 2019 Polar Bear Final Qualifier. Oddo is currently ranked 39th in Division III with a score of 4,513 in the heptathlon.
Singer will compete in the mile run after placing second in the event last weekend at the UAA Indoor Championships. He crossed the finish line in a new school record time of 4:16.27, which bests former Spartan Chris Kelly's time of 4:18.26 set back in 2011. Singer's time currently ranks 32nd in Division III.
Vargo will compete in the women's high jump after placing second in the event at the UAA Championships last weekend. She hit a season-best mark of 1.64 meters, which currently ranks 31st in Division III.
A total of 20 men and 20 women will be selected to compete on the national stage from each event and that will be announced on Monday.
Oddo will begin competition in the heptathlon on Friday at 12:00 p.m. and then resume events on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Vargo is scheduled to compete at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Singer is scheduled to run at 12:00 p.m.
