2018-19 CWRU Men’s Indoor Track & Field Season Recap

The Case Western Reserve University men's indoor track and field team set three program records during the 2018-19 season, while also compiling one All-UAA honor during the University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships and qualified two members of the squad for the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Sophomore Trey Razanauskas earned a 15th-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:59.88 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, junior Dominic Oddo placed 18th overall in the men's heptathlon with a score of 4,106.

Razanauskas achieved his qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run when he set a school-record and placed third in the event at 2019 UAA Indoor Championships, hosted by Brandeis University. Razanauskas earned the All-UAA honor in the 5,000-meter run with a new school-record time of 14:40.40, which bested the previous school record of 14:44.18 set by Aaron Johnston Peck in 2006.

Oddo achieved his qualifying score in the heptathlon when he set a school-record and placed second in the event at the 2019 Ohio Northern Polar Bear Last Chance Meet. Oddo set the new school-record with a score of 4,709 points. His 4,709 points broke his previous school record of 4,615 points set at the 2018 All-Ohio Division III Multi-Events Championships.

One other program record was set throughout the 2018-19 indoor season. In the triple jump, senior Ananth Suresh placed fifth in the event at the UAA Indoor Championships with a new school-record mark of 13.71 meters. That mark bested his previous school record of 13.43 meters set the weekend before that at the Kent State Tune Up.

Nine Spartan men also earned All-Great Lakes Region Honors from the USTFCCCA in their respective events, including Razanauskas (5,000m run), Oddo (heptathlon, long jump), junior Jonathan Haling (4x400m relay), junior Michael Hradesky (4x400m relay, 800m run), sophomore Thomas Patton (DMR), freshman Juan Perez (4x400m relay), freshman Bryden Moxley (4x400m relay, DMR), freshman Logan Singer (DMR) and freshman Spencer Weigand (DMR).
