11 Spartans Honored with USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

11 individuals from the Case Western Reserve University men's and women's indoor track and field teams have earned All-Great Lakes Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the 2018-19 NCAA Division III honorees were announced on Monday.

Nine Spartan men and two Spartan women earned honors in their respective events, including junior Jonathan Haling (4x400m relay), junior Michael Hradesky (4x400m relay, 800m run), junior Dominic Oddo (heptathlon, long jump), sophomore Thomas Patton (DMR), freshman Juan Perez (4x400m relay), sophomore Trey Razanauskas (5,000m run), freshman Bryden Moxley (4x400m relay, DMR), freshman Logan Singer (DMR), freshman Spencer Weigand (DMR), graduate student Cassandra Laios (shot put, weight throw) and senior Olivia Newman (400m dash).

The 4x400-meter relay team of Haling, Hradesky, Perez and Moxley placed fifth at the 2019 University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 3:22.74.

The distance medley relay team of Patton, Moxley, Singer and Weigand placed sixth at the UAA Indoor Championships with a time of 10:16.15.

Along with his contribution in the 4x400-meter relay, Hradesky earned a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run at the UAA Indoor Championships with a time of 1:54.43.

Razanauskas' best time in the 5,000-meter run also came at the UAA Indoor Championships where he earned a third-place finish with a new school record time of 14:31.07.

Oddo set a new school record in the heptathlon at the Polar Bear Final Qualifier this past weekend after scoring 4,733 points to break his previous school record of 4,615 points set at the 2018 All-Ohio Multi-Events Championship. Oddo also earned a first-place finish in the long jump at the Sixth-Annual Spartan Holiday Classic with a mark of 6.89 meters.

Laios earned a first-place finish in the shot put at the Sixth-Annual Spartan Holiday Classic with a toss of 13.92 meters. In addition, Laios claimed the title in the weight throw at the All-Ohio Championships with a school-record mark of 18.05 meters, besting her previous school record of 17.92 meters. Both of Laios' marks in the shot put and weight throw were best among All-Great Lakes Region competitors.

Newman, also at the UAA Indoor Championships, placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.00.

Laios, Oddo and Razanauskas have each qualified to compete at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Boston, Massachusetts. The rest of the Spartans are now in preparation for the 2019 outdoor season which is set to kick-off on Friday, March 15th at the Washington & Lee University Track Carnival.
