The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams are prepared to travel to Ada, Ohio for the Joe Banks Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University, on Saturday, February 3rd in the ONU Sports Center.
Fans unable to attend can follow the action with live video at https://boxcast.tv/view/itf---joe-banks-invitational-2-3-18-132176 and live results at http://livestats.onu.edu/livestats/tf/index.htm.
Action at the meet is slated to begin with field events at 11:00 a.m., followed by track events set to begin at noon.
Last weekend, the Spartans fell to University Athletic Association rival Carnegie Mellon University, 139-133, in the 10th-Annual Battle for the Obelisk.
The men's and women's squad combined to gather 13 individual titles and one relay title, including sophomore Dominic Oddo's first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.00 meters, a mark good enough for a new school record and meet record. Oddo surpassed his previous school record of 6.97 meters set earlier this indoor season.
With another meet record, senior Sam Merriman finished first in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:43.90, besting the previous meet record of 8:47.34 set in 2016. Senior Cassandra Laios also set two meet records, winning the weight throw (16.78 meters) and the shot put (13.35 meters).
Schools currently scheduled to attend the meet, in addition to Case Western Reserve and host Ohio Northern, include Albion, Bluffton, Capital, Defiance, Heidelberg, John Carroll, Malone (partial team), Ohio Christian, Ohio Dominican, Otterbein, Ursuline (women only) and Wittenberg.
Results and a recap of the Spartans' performances at the meet will be posted to athletics.case.edu following the completion of competition on Saturday.
