Case Western Reserve University senior sprinter Nathaniel Wahner and the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Wahner, junior Andrew Ibibo, sophomore Joseph Cabral and freshman Jonathan Haling have qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be held on May 25th-27th in Geneva, Ohio. Wahner will be competing individually in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash, while also running the anchor of the 4x400-meter relay.
Wahner will compete in the 200-meter prelims on Thursday, May 25th at 3:45 p.m. and then in the 400-meter prelims on Friday, May 26th at 3:00 p.m. with hopes of qualifying for the finals in each event on Saturday, May 27th. The fourth year Spartan, making his second appearance on the national stage, is seeded sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.64 and seeded 17th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.43.
Wahner achieved his qualifying time in the 400-meter dash when he set a school-record and placed first in the event during the Outdoor University Athletic Association Championships on April 22nd. He achieved his qualifying time in the 200-meter dash when he set a school-record and placed second in the event during this past weekend's Great Lakes Elite Meet.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team will compete in the preliminaries on Thursday, May 25th at 5:15 p.m. with hopes of qualifying for the finals on Saturday, May 27th. The relay squad is seeded fifth in the event with a time of 3:13.62.
The 4x400-meter relay team achieved their qualifying time when they set a school-record and finished second in the event during the Harrison Dillard Twilight on May 12th.
All events will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
