Holden & Laios Claim Spartans’ UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Case Western Reserve University freshman javelin thrower Brian Holden and junior thrower Cassandra Laios were named the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for men's and women's field events, following their performances at the Harrison Dillard Twilight at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio on Friday.

Holden earned a third place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 56.19 meters, which currently ranks as the best mark in the UAA and 47th in Division III. This was the first UAA Athlete of the Week honor of his career.

Laios topped her program-best mark in the hammer throw after finishing first in the event with a mark of 51.30 meters, smashing her previous schoo-record mark of 50.35 meters set earlier this season. That mark currently ranks first in the UAA and 21st in Division III. Laios also added a fifth-place finish in the shot put (11.85 meters) and a sixth-place finish in the discus throw (37.81 meters). This was her fifth UAA Athlete of the Week honor.
