Case Western Reserve University senior Nathaniel Wahner was named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's track, following his performance at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University, in Delaware, Ohio last weekend.
Wahner earned two individual All-Ohio honors on Saturday, while also setting a new school-record in the 100-meter dash. He earned All-Ohio honors with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.67 seconds to best the previous school-record of 10.78 seconds, set by Steve Ims during the 1989 season. His time also currently ranks first in the UAA and seventh in Division III. Wahner added another All-Ohio honor in the 200-meter dash, placing first with a time of 22.23 seconds.
Wahner was also a member of the men's 4x100-meter relay team that finished third in the event with a time of 42.43 seconds. That time is good enough to rank second in the UAA during this outdoor season. This was his second UAA Athlete of the Week honor of his career.
Wahner and the Spartans will now turn their attention to the 2017 UAA Championships, hosted by the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois this weekend. Action at the meet will begin on Saturday, April 22nd, and continue through Sunday, April 23rd.
