UAA Championships on the Horizon for Men’s & Women’s Track and Field

The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams are geared up for the 2017 University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Brandeis University at the Gosman Athletic Center in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Competition will begin on Saturday, February 25th at 12:00 p.m. and the championships will wrap up on Sunday, February 26th with events set to begin at 10:00 a.m.

15 Spartans are ranked in the top three in their respective events, while 33 athletes head into the competition in scoring positions with top eight times or marks thus far this season.

Senior thrower Temi Omilabu will compete in the women's weight throw on Saturday afternoon. Omilabu enters the event with the UAA's top mark this season (16.27 meters). Also heading into the championships with a top seed, junior thrower Cassandra Laios heaved the shot put 12.64 meters for the farthest conference mark this season.

Also with top three marks in the UAA, junior Ben Zelkin comes in with a time of 6.96 which ranks second-best in the 60-meter dash this season and sophomore Tyler Bushman has a 2017 season best toss of 15.27 meters in the weight throw for the second-best conference mark.

Senior sprinter Nathaniel Wahner heads to the championships with the second-best time in the 400-meter dash (50.13) and the third-best time in the 200-meter dash (22.54). Junior Grant Mlack also enters the weekend with the third-best time in the 60-meter hurdles (8.51).

With a jump of 6.67 meters, freshman Dominic Oddo comes in with the second-best conference mark in the long jump, while the men's 4x400-meter relay team and the men's distance medley relay team are also in the number two spots. The women's distance medley relay team has the third-best time in the conference this season.
