Track & Field in Action at Two Meets this Week

The Case Western Reserve University track and field team will continue its march towards the NCAA Division III Championships later in the month, as the squad will be split between a pair of meets this week, heading to the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois on Thursday, May 12th and Friday, May 13th, and the Gator Invitational at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 13th.

Three Spartans will be running in the distance events at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, with senior Kelsey Aamoth competing in the 5,000-meter run at 6:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, senior Kristen Ruckstuhl competing in the 10,000-meter run at 8:15 p.m. CT on Thursday, and sophomore Danielle Kulpins competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday.

Ruckstuhl is currently ranked 35th in Division III in the 10,000-meter run, while Kulpins is 49th in the steeplechase.

Slated to compete at the Gator Invitational for the Spartan men are senior Nicholas Heim, junior Pat Shober, sophomore Grant Mlack, junior Joe Ledger, and the 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Rasheed Ajala, sophomores Zak Hurd and Adrian Cannon and junior Nathaniel Wahner.  Scheduled to be in action for the CWRU women are junior Temi Omilabu, freshman Olivia Newman and sophomore Cassandra Laios.

Mlack is currently ranked 27th in Division III the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.85 seconds, Newman is 27th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.50, Laios is 46th in the discus throw with a mark of 41.38 meters, and Omilabu is 31st in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.01 meters.

Field events at the Gator Invitational will begin at 9:00 a.m., while running events will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Full results and a recap of the Spartans performances at both meets will be posted to athletics.case.edu following the completion of competition.
