DELAWARE, Ohio - The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team finished sixth overall at the 2015 All-Ohio Division III Track and Field Championship held at Selby Stadium on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
Senior Sam Reusser (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) earned the highest place of the day for the Spartans with a new career-best mark in the shot put. Reusser stepped up with a huge throw of 14.58 meters for a second place finish.
Also in the throws, the Spartans placed two in the top eight in the javelin. With throws of 50.50 meters and 49.27 meters, senior Toby Kilroy (Lexington, Mass./Boston University Academy) and junior Ruben Treatman (Philadelphia, Pa./Chesnut Hill Academy) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Sophomore Devon Belew (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.05, while in the 1,500-meter run sophomore Joe Ledger (New York, N.Y./Bronx Science) finished third with a time of 3:57.99. Belew was also a part of the fifth place 4x400-meter relay team along with junior Jonathan Freeman (Houston, Texas/Awty International School), sophomore Nathaniel Wahner (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and freshman Nico Ericksen-Deriso (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) which crossed the line with a time of 3:21.65.
In the 5,000-meter run, freshman Sam Merriman (Middlesex, Vt./U-32) crossed the finish line with a time of 15:20.01 for a seventh place finish. Sophomore Bryan Kelly (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) also grabbed a seventh place finish for the Spartans in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:13.65. In the steeplechase, sophomore Galen Caldwell (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) finished second with a time of 9:37.38.
The Spartans will return to the track and field next Saturday, April 18 at Baldwin Wallace University for the Sparky Adams Invitational.
