Spartan Men Continue to Shatter Records; Finish Sixth at UAA Championship

CHICAGO - Senior Sam Reusser (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) tossed his second career-best mark of the weekend on his sixth attempt in the shot put to win the title and earn conference honors with a throw of 14.52 meters during the final day of the 2015 University Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Chicago.

The Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team finished sixth of seven teams. Washington University in St. Louis won the championship with 114 team points and Chicago came in second with 113.

Breaking the school record again, the men's 4x400-meter relay team of juniors Jonathan Freeman (Houston, Texas/Awty International School) and Devon Belew (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill) as well as sophomore Nathaniel Wahner (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and freshman Nico Ericksen-Deris (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) crossed the finish line with a time of 3:23.66 for fourth place.

In the pole vault, senior captain Mark Kulinski (Oil City, Pa./Venango Catholic) finished third with a mark of 4.54 meters for third place and All-UAA honors.

Sophomore Graeham Heil (Fort Thomas, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) earned his third All-UAA performance on his sixth attempt in the triple jump with a mark of 1.91 meters. 

On the track, senior sprinter Josh Malone (Berea, Ohio/Berea) broke his own school record set just yesterday in the 200-meter dash to grab third place with a new career-best time of 22.80. 

The Spartans will now await the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship lists to be posted. The meet will be held Friday and Saturday March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
