DELAWARE, Ohio – Led by the first-place finish of senior David Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Lakeside) and five additional individual top-three performances, the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team placed third of 10 at the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Spartans scored 83 points to tie with Ohio Northern University for third place. Ohio Wesleyan took the top spot with 154 points, while Albion College (Mich.) finished second with 119.5 points. Baldwin Wallace University rounded out the top five with a score of 74.5.
Dixon won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:43.18.
Also on the track, the men's 4x400 relay team of sophomores Jonathan Freeman (Houston, Texas/Awty International School), Perry Billet (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) and Abdallah Soliman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) along with freshman Nathan Wahner (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) finished third with a time of 3:28.64.
In field events, seniors Harry Weintraub (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) and David Leishman (Rock Creek, Ohio/Geneva) finished second and third in the weight throw with tosses of 173 feet, eight inches and 150'5", respectively.
CWRU next competes at the All-Ohio Championship on Saturday, April 12 right back at Ohio Wesleyan's Selby Stadium.
