MARIETTA, Ohio – Led by an individual winner in senior thrower Harry Weintraub (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson), the Case Western Reserve University men's track and field team recorded six top-five finishes at the rain-soaked Don Frail Invitational at Marietta College's Don Drumm Stadium.
Weintraub won his signature event, the hammer throw, with a toss of 174 feet 10 inches. Also in the event, senior David Leishman (Rock Creek, Ohio/Geneva) finished fifth with a mark of 146'4".
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, freshman Galen Caldwell (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) and sophomore Chippy Kennedy (Scituate, Mass./Thayer Academy) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 9:57.69 and 9:58.35.
Also on the track, senior David Dixon (Atlanta, Ga./Lakeside) recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:12.65, while freshman Joe Ledger (New York, N.Y./Bronx Science) finished third in the 800m in 2:01.92.
The Spartans are back in action next Saturday, April 5 at the Marv Frye Invitational in Delaware.
