Jurcak Fifth During Prelims, Qualifies for Saturday Finals

GRINNELL, Iowa – Case Western Reserve University senior Matthew Jurcak (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) qualified for the national finals in the 60-meter hurdles with a fifth-place finish during the prelims on Friday evening at Charles Benson Bear '39 Recreation and Athletic Center.

Jurcak placed fifth during Friday's prelim with a time of 8.20 seconds. The senior entered the meet tied for the eighth-fastest time in the nation at 8.19.

Senior Austin Curbow of Otterbein University dashed to the fastest prelim time of 8.03. Finishers two through four joined Curbow ahead of the previous stadium record (8.19) as freshman Mike Judd of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and senior Tyler Jackson of Washington University-St. Louis each crossed the line in 8.07. Senior Sutton Coleman of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was fourth in 8.09.

The 60m hurdles finals are slated for 3:55 p.m. (CDT) tomorrow afternoon.
