PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Case Western Reserve University wrestler Cale Harter (Mt. Pleasant, MI/Mt. Pleasant) and track & field athlete Justine Jeroski (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) both received University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors, announced the league office on Monday, February 14.
Jeroski, a senior distance ace, won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 17:39.58 at the All-Ohio Championships. Jeroski's time was nearly 40 seconds better than the second-place finisher and was good for an NCAA provisional qualifying-mark.
Track and field will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Greater Cleveland Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College. The evening's events are slated to kick off at 5:00 p.m.
A junior heavyweight, Harter posted a 2-0 record in tri-match action versus Muskingum and RIT. Harter earned an 8-1 decision in his first match and a 4-2 decision in the second. With the undefeated record for the weekend, he improved his individual record to 20-16 for the season.
Next up for the Spartan grapplers will be the Midwest Regionals at Wabash College (IN) on Friday, February 26. It will be an all-day affair, with the first matches scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
