Spartan Track & Field Teams Edged by Rival CMU in Battle for the Obelisk; Kline Sets Indoor Shot Put Record

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University track & field teams were edged by one point, 127-126, in dual meet action versus rival Carnegie Mellon University (PA). The Spartan women won their side of the meet, 79-47, but the men fell, 80-47, giving CMU the higher combined point total and claim to the Obelisk Trophy. Junior Amanda Kline (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) highlighted the day for the Spartans with an indoor school-record throw in the shot put.

The Obelisk Trophy is awarded to the winning school in what has become an annual dual meet between the two programs started by head coach Steve Rubin.
