Men’s Tennis Aims for Success at ITA Fall Regionals

2018 ITA Central Region Draws

The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team will head to Washington University (Mo.) in Saint Louis, Missouri to compete in the signature event of its fall season, the 2018 ITA Fall Central Regional Championships, from Friday, September 28 through Monday, October 1st.

A total of 32 Division III colleges and universities are scheduled to be represented at this year's tournament.  In addition to Case Western Reserve and host Washington, other schools scheduled to be in action at the event include Albion, Augustana, Baldwin Wallace, Chicago, Denison, DePauw, Earlham, Elmhurst, Fontbonne, Greenville, Hanover, Hope, Illinois College, Kalamazoo, Kenyon, Lake Forest, Millikin, Monmouth, Oberlin, Ohio Northern, Otterbein, Ohio Wesleyan, Principia, Rose-Hulman, Transylvania, Trine, Wabash, Wheaton, Wittenberg, and Wooster.

Scheduled to compete for the Spartans in the main singles draw are senior Rob Stroup, juniors Sam Concannon, Anthony Kanam, and Siddharth Rajupet, sophomores Matthew Chen, Earl Hsieh and Jonathan Powell and freshmen Chaitanya Aduru, Aaron Umen and Max Vicario, while junior Zach Hennessey and freshman Kenneth Boyette will be in the second singles draw.  Doubles pairings for the Spartans in the main draw include Kanam and Powell, Chen and Hennessey, Vicario and Umen, Concannon and Aduru, and Hsieh and Boyette.

Action at the tournament is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. CT on Friday with the Round of 128 of the singles draw.  Four CWRU players are seeded in the main singles draw, including Chen (12th), Kanam (18th), Powell (21st) and Vicario (23rd).  Doubles play will commence later in the day, with a two CWRU pairings - Kanam and Powell (second) and Chen and Hennessey (11th) seeded in the draw.  Match times and full draws are available at

Winners of both the main singles and doubles draws will secure All-America honors for the 2018-19 year, in addition to securing a spot in the field for the ITA Cup, to be held in Rome, Georgia from October 11 – 14.
