CWRU Men’s Tennis Has Eyes Set on ITA Regionals, Toledo Invite this Weekend

After a week off, the Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team will be back in action this weekend at a pair of weekend competition.  The team will be sending its top competitors to the ITA Central Region Championships, hosted by Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, while also having a contingent compete at the Toledo Invitational, hosted by the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.  Both competitions are scheduled to be held from Friday, September 29 through Sunday, October 1.

Scheduled to attend the ITA Regionals for the Spartans are juniors Rob Stroup and Oludayo Areke, sophomores Anthony Kanam, Siddharth Rajupet, Sam Concannon and Henry Squire and freshmen Matthew Chen and Vivi Vemula.

Action at the event will begin on Friday at 9:00 a.m.  The Spartans will feature a pair of seeded singles players in the draw in Chen (17th) and Stroup (25th), along with the sixth-seeded doubles pairing of Chen and Concannon.

Six other members of the CWRU squad – sophomore Rajeev Laungani and freshmen Josh Hsia, Earl Hsieh, Aris Jhaveri, Austin Lawrence and Will Grier – are slated to be in action at the Toledo Invitational throughout the weekend.  Other teams schedule to attend the competition, which will feature a hidden dual format, include Duquesne, Chicago State, St. Francis, Youngstown State, Wayne State, Detroit Mercy, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Results and recaps of the Spartans' performances will be posted to athletics.case.edu following the completion of competition each day.
