CWRU Men’s Tennis to Compete at ITA Regionals & Purdue Fall Invite

ITA Fall Regional Draws: Singles | Doubles

The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team will be split between a pair of competitions for the second-straight weekend, as the Spartans will be participating in the ITA Fall Central Region Championships, hosted by Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and the Purdue Fall Invitational, hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Spartans will have four doubles teams and seven singles players competing at the ITA Fall Central Region Championships this weekend.  The duo of seniors Adam Collins and Fred Daum are seeded ninth in the 64-team doubles draw, and will open play on Friday against Oberlin's Abraham Davis and Stephen Gruppuso.  Other doubles pairings in action during the weekend for the Spartans include senior Josh Dughi and sophomore Rob Stroup, freshmen Sam Concannon and Siddharth Rajupet, and seniors Phillip Gruber and Gabriel Murcia.

Dughi is the Spartans' top-seeded player in the 128-player singles draw, checking in a ninth to open the tournament.  Also seeded in the draw are Rajupet (17th) and Stroup (25th), while Gruber, Daum, Collins and Concannon will all be competing as unseeded players.

Action at the ITA Regionals is slated to begin on Friday, with the first two rounds of singles and doubles play scheduled to be held during the first day of competition.  For more information on the event, and updated draws as they are available, fans can visit the official tournament page at http://hornets.kzoo.edu/sports/mten/2016-17/2016-ITA.

Meanwhile, the CWRU will also be one of 16 teams headed to the Purdue Fall Invitational, hosted by the Division I Boilermakers from Friday through Sunday.  Currently scheduled to compete for the Spartans at Purdue are freshmen Zach Hennessey, Varun Jayaram, Anthony Kanam, Rohith Koneru, Rajeev Laungani, Joshua Piatos, and Henry Squire, and sophomores John Benedetto, Tyler Holsopple and David Zakhodin.
