No. 6 Men’ Tennis Set to Host NYU on Saturday

The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team, ranked sixth in Division III, will welcome New York University to Cleveland for a 6:00 p.m. match on Saturday, April 2nd.

Saturday's match will be played indoors at the Cleveland Racquet Club.

The Spartans are sixth in the latest Oracle/ Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Rankings, released on Thursday.  The team also checked in at second in the Central Region poll, while senior CJ Krimbill was the fourth-ranked singles player in the region and junior James Fojtasek was ranked 14th.  In addition, the Spartans' duo of Krimbill and senior Louis Stuerke were ranked second in the region in doubles.

Case Western Reserve is 11-5 overall this season, including a 7-2 record against Division III opposition, and a 4-2 record against ranked Division III opponents.  The Spartans also have a 5-1 home record for the campaign.  Individually, Krimbill leads the Spartans with a 17-4 overall singles record, including a 13-2 mark in the spring, while Stuerke (12-7), Fojtasek (11-5) and freshman Robert Stroup (11-10) have each registered double-figure win totals in singles play this season.  In doubles action, Krimbill and Stuerke have gone 16-5, while Fojtasek and junior Phil Gruber have gone 13-1.

NYU is 2-4 this season, including a 6-3 loss to the 38th-ranked College of New Jersey in their last match, and are ranked 14th in the Northeast Region.  The teams last played during the 2015 University Athletic Association Championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida, with the Spartans coming away with a 7-2 win.
